Jacob, Meet Emily

Having a baby? If so, chances are you will name him Jacob if he is a boy and Emily if she is a girl.

Little Jacob and Emily, my how cute they are!

If Jacob and Emily aren't on your list, then I bet one of these is: Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Joshua, Ethan (For Boys) and Madison, Ashley, Hannah, Sarah, Alexis, Emma, Olivia (For Girls).

Here's a tidbit for those of you who have trouble remembering names: When in doubt (for males), guess Michael. The name Michael was number 1 from 1961 all the way up to 1999, when it was booted by the now popular Jacob. Michael is still hanging in there at #2 though!

So remember, his name is probably Michael!

...or if he is still in diapers, Jacob.

My son is 4 and his name is Noah (the name his birthmother gave him). He started preschool this year and there are 2 Noahs, 2 Emilys and 2 Olivias! I was absolutely floored! There's only about 15 kids in the class!

My husband and I have made it a point not to go with the most popular names. Of course, now we get made fun of for our current choices for our future children.

Makes me want to do some kind of research on top baby names and what their decades represented. Are we trying to transform our future generations by giving them names associated with the more practical decades? BTW, I cannot wait for the whole Ashley craze to be over. I know way too many Ashley's! Thanks for such a funny and thought provoking site. I love it!!
