Seizing Opportunity - American History By Those Who Hate Us At The Autry

The sign reads: Seizing Opportunity - At the expense of the rights of other nations and native peoples, Americans aggressively moved west beginning in the 1820s. Many Americans believed in "Manifest Destiny," a concept which held that divine providence intended the nation to grow. This sense of purpose helped to justify the acquisition of Oregon, Texas, California and the Southwest, even at the price of war with Mexico.

The sign reads: Many miners worked alone especially those looking for gold. They staked their claims and worked them without help using such common tools as pick, mining pan and candlestick (for underground work). A miner's poke carried gold dust. Small portable scales in a violin shaped case were popular among Chinese miners. African American, Hispanic, Chinese and other minorities searched for wealth but often found discrimination instead. Few individual miners found great wealth. Most found hard labor and few rewards.

Tools for Trail, Home, and Occupation - Exhibit Narrative, May 28th, 2010 Autry Museum Of Western Art, Los Angeles, CA

The sign reads: Tools for Trail, Home, and Occupation - Many wagons were loaded with tools for life on the trail, farming at new settlements or to serve other occupations of the traveler. Journey's end found the emigrants in a new land, usually by late autumn, when it was too late to plant crops. Settlers spent the winter searching for land, building homes, and awaiting spring. Soon, merchants, tradesmen, farmers, and their families populated new communities.
Oxen used to pull wagons now pulled plows and helped to clear the land. Axes, shovels, and rakes found use in making homes, businesses and farms. Occupying the land, these people pushed aside native peoples who preceded them in the search for opportunity.

The Kids Are All Right

I try and volunteer to drive and/or chaperon every field trip I can, purely out of selfish reasons, because I get to spend some fun time with my kids, get to know their friends and classmates and get to see something I normally wouldn't take the time to see on my own.

Yesterday, I drove a carload of biology students to the Los Angeles Zoo.

I really like high school kids, because they are still in the honest phase of their lives and once they feel at ease will happily chatter away about any topic that pops into their heads. It amazes me how little things have changed amongst kids, really. My bunch could have easily been plucked out of my high school circa 1982, with a few modifications to wardrobe, lingo and current events referenced in conversation.

Their concerns are still familiar, mostly related to the social pecking order at school, the best music to listen to, who is dating whom (and the best places to go on a date - for dinner and smooching), their performance at the latest sporting event (various sports represented) and enjoying the last bit of childhood where they can still revert to being silly, goofy and irreverent when they sense they are out of the stern, stiff, straight jacket like grasp of the matrons of political correctness.

Wonderful, All-American Kids.

I am sure if I could get inside their heads and eavesdrop on their private thoughts, I would find the usual insecurities and fears of high school upperclassmen, but outwardly, they present a casual confidence, trading "inappropriate" barbs and chiding each other one second, then excitedly talking about some new music group or something funny one of their teachers said or did. They relate to each other is an uniquely youthful, but respectful manner.

Today at least, I am happy to report the kids are all right.

Politicians Against The People

Something happened the other day that should scare the heck out of every single American citizen. A leader of a foreign nation denounced the citizens of Arizona, and a group of of politicians stood and applauded him. Whatever your views on Arizona's law may be, it is the result of a democratic process, and therefore should be respected as it reflects the will of the people.

Members of congress are supposed to represent the citizens of the United States, and work towards carrying out their wishes. Publicly siding with the corrupt ruler of a foreign nation against their own people is nothing short of treason, and we the American public can no longer be satisfied with calls to "vote the bums out", we need to put a stop to this while we still have the chance. Charges of treason are starting to seem appropriate.

It is not much further from where we are now to an all out dictatorship. Arizona made a decision that is fully supported by its citizens, is necessary to protect Arizona citizens, and an insidious element in our government threatens them with harm and openly sides with the enemy.

Yes, I did say enemy. The Mexican government has for years encouraged its citizens to violate the US laws and sneak into the country illegally. Friendly nations don't encourage their citizens to break the laws of neighbor countries.buycott arizona
There is something very wrong here, and if this is tolerated, it will embolden them to step it up a notch. I know y'all think I've lost my marbles, but just ask yourself how many societies saw it coming before a despot seized power and unleashed a reign of terror to subdue the population?

Do you think the Jews in Germany knew what was coming but decided to stick around anyway?

Y'all better wake up because this may be your last chance to have a say. This isn't politics. This is your life.

It's Time For Public Schools To Learn A Lesson

Paying taxes to fund public education is not unlike stopping to purchasing bullets on the way to your appointment with the firing squad. In either case, it just isn't going to end well for you.

The first big cut we should make is to University of California system. Before you start worrying about having enough skilled workers for this wonderful high-tech economy that is rapidly disappearing, consider first the likelihood of those companies having the need for swarms of UC graduates who have just earned their degree in political correctness, white male hating, Latino superiority theory, or global-warming-is-the-truth-because-we-say-it-is-ology.

In truth, most of the US's colleges and universities are infested with leftist propagandists, but it is the ones financed by public money that I particularly object to. It's not that I think that the leftist viewpoint should be excluded, it is that they should not exist in a vacuum, as is now the case, unfettered by any serious critique or debate. The UC system in particular has become a tax payer financed leftist-nutcase propaganda spewing machine.

Corporations are the enemy, is the prevailing wisdom coming from our esteemed thinkers of higher thoughts. (South Park captured this phenomenon in an episode called Die Hippie Die.) The corporations are evil, man, - Oooh the corporations. Big Oil and Big Tobacco and Big Food and Big Corporations are the enemy. I am not claiming that all corporations are ethically pristine, they have power, and power corrupts - but at the same time they are not the embodiment of evil and the only thing worse than having lots of corporations is not having them.

The hostility towards those who make a profit has spread to the minds of another group living in a vacuum, those of our politicians who then transform that hostility into laws - laws that have real-world implications and quite often achieve their goal of damaging corporations.

It seems to me that when academics and politicians think of business, they picture something akin to the black smoke monster from the TV series "Lost". This is, however, not an accurate picture of a real corporation.

Your typical corporation is a physical building with walls, doors, windows and usually a large parking lot where people (let's call them employees) can park their cars for the day, during which they enter said building and perform various activities (let's call that work) for which they receive a specified amount of money (let's call this specified amount of money wages or salary). The funny thing about the wages or salaries earned by the employees is that part of it regularly disappears before the employees ever see it.

Instead of being paid to those who earn it, it is sent directly to the politicians who then spend it as quickly as they can, and one of the things they spend it on is "higher education". The same "higher education" that spends its time and resources convincing our young people and politicians that corporations are evil.

Now that we are reaping what they have sown and our economy disintegrates before our very eyes, it is only fair that higher education should share in the bounty of the harvest.

A Call To Americans Of Latin Descent

If you came to this country with the hope of making a better life for yourself, and believe that democracy, despite it's shortcomings, is the best system possible, it is time for you to stand up and make some noise.

This is a country where people come to by choice. There isn't a brand of human being on the planet that can't be found in the United States Of America, and we like it that way. I like it that way.

The only thing that we demand is that you follow the law and pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States Of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.

In my own family, if you count up flags of nations abandoned for the USA, you would count 4 of them. I am the first generation in my family that is American born on my father's side, and second on my mother's. That means I grew up listening to the stories of how and why this came to be, and has given me an appreciation of the sacrifices made to get here so that I would be able to lead a life of my own choosing.

If it came to pass that any misguided newcomers from one of those four countries started insisting on waving a flag other than Old Glory, I would be on them like a duck on a June bug (ducks really like June bugs). I would explain that there is a difference between contributing some of your heritage to our melting pot, and celebrating a foreign nation. Flags represent nations. The only flag around here is the American Flag.

So get up and stand up for America, before the misguided newcomers from your neck of the woods ruin it for you and the rest of us.

I don't say things like this lightly. But, these are the facts, folks. This is what is really going on. Why the stupid network news don't tell us this, I will never understand. Our politicians are either stupid or dishonest. You will regret it if you don't watch this video put together by the National Inflation Association.

There are very few options, at this point. We are in for some pain.

State Senator Sylvia Allen Responds To SB1070

I am publishing this here because I think it is important that people hear the point of view of Arizonans who supported the law which people are trying to brand as racist. I haven't seen anything in the regular papers presenting this side of the issue, which is a travesty, so I am posting it:

I’m Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen.

I want to explain SB 1070 for which I voted yes. Rancher Robert Krentz was murdered by the drug cartel on his ranch a month ago. I participated in a senate hearing two weeks ago on the border violence, here is just some of the highlights from those who testified.

The people who live within 60 to 80 miles of the Arizona/Mexico Border have for years been terrorized and have pleaded for help to stop the daily invasion of humans who cross their property . One Rancher testified that 300 to 1200 people a DAY come across his ranch vandalizing his property, stealing his vehicles and property, cutting down his fences, and leaving trash. In the last two years he has found 17 dead bodies and two Koran bibles. Another rancher testified that daily drugs are brought across his ranch in a military operation. A point man with a machine gun goes in front, 1/2 mile behind are the guards fully armed, 1/2 mile behind them are the drugs, behind the drugs 1/2 mile are more guards. These people are violent and they will kill anyone who gets in the way. This was not the only rancher we heard that day that talked about the drug trains. One man told of two illegal’s who came upon his property one shot in the back and the other in the arm by the drug runners who had forced them to carry the drugs and then shot them. Daily they listen to gun fire during the night it is not safe to leave his family alone on the ranch and they can’t leave the ranch for fear of nothing being left when they come back.

The border patrol is not on the border. They have set up 60 miles away with check points that do nothing to stop the invasion. They are not allowed to use force in stopping anyone who is entering. They run around chasing them, if they get their hands on them then they can take them back across the border. Federal prisons have over 35% illegal’s and 20% of Arizona prisons are filled with illegal’s. In the last few years 80% of our law enforcement that have been killed or wounded have been by an illegal. The majority of people coming now are people we need to be worried about. The ranchers told us that they have seen a change in the people coming they are not just those who are looking for work and a better life.

The Federal Government has refused for years to do anything to help the border states . We have been over run and once they are here we have the burden of funding state services that they use. Education costs have been over a billion dollars. The health care cost billions of dollars. Our State is broke, $3.5 billion deficit and we have many serious decisions to make. One is that we do not have the money to care for any who are not here legally. It has to stop.

The border can be secured. We have the technology and we have the ability to stop this invasion. We must know who is coming and they must come in an organized manner legally so that we can assimilate them into our population and protect the sovereignty of our country. We are a nation of laws. We have a responsibility to protect our citizens and to protect the integrity of our country and the government which we live under. I would give amnesty today to many, but here is the problem, we dare not do thisuntil the Border is secure. It will do no good to give them amnesty because thousands will come behind them and we will be over run to the point that there will no longer be the United States of America but a North American Union of open borders. I ask you what form of government will we live under? How long will it be before we will be just like Mexico, Canada or any of the other Central American or South American country? We have already lost our language, everything must be printed in Spanish. We have already lost our history, it is no longer taught in our schools, and we have lost our borders.

The leftist media has distorted what SB 1070 will do. It is not going to set up a Nazi Germany. Are you kidding? The ACLU and the leftist courts will do everything to protect those who are here illegally, but it was an effort to try and stop illegal’s from setting up businesses, and employment, and receiving state services and give the ability to local law enforcement when there is probable cause, like a traffic stop, to determine if they are here legally. Federal law is very clear, if you are here on a visa you must have your papers on you at all times. That is the law. In Arizona all you need to show you are a legal citizen is a driver license, MVD identification card, Native American Card, or a Military ID. This is what you need to vote or get a hunting license. So nothing new has been added to this law. No one is going to be stopped walking down the street. The Socialists who are in power in DC are angry because we dare try and do something. The Socialists wants us to just let them come. They want the “Transformation” to continue.

Maybe it is too late to save America. Maybe we are not worthy of freedom anymore. But as an elected official I must try to do what I can to protect our Constitutional Republic. Living in America is not a right just because you can walk across the border. Being an American is a responsibility and it comes by respecting and upholding the Constitution, the law of our land, which says what you must do to be a citizen of this country. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

To All Black Americans Who have Fallen for that "People Of Color" BS, watch this "sitcom" from Telemundo - broadcast to the Spanish speaking population of the United States.

When you are ready to stop choosing who to support based on skin color, we could really use your help in defending our country from this sickening assault on our sovereignty.
Signed, Whitey.

PS, I can't help but wonder why the National Council Of La Racists hasn't denounced stuff like this... - Oh... Now I remember. Por La Raza Todos....

Things to consider:
  1. Increased cost and reduced access to trauma care. Tucson has lost all but one Level I Trauma Center to serve all of southern Arizona, in large part due to massive, unsustainable losses from uncompensated care. Auto accidents involving overloaded vans of illegal aliens happen regularly in southern Arizona. Injured are flown by air ambulance to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center and treated with state of the art care….all at taxpayer expense. SOURCE

Re: Ga. Seniors Told They Can't Pray Before Meals

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I assume that settles the matter and the person(s) who is/are needlessly upsetting seniors will move on to the next item on their agenda - kicking small children and puppies? The Constitution does not provide freedom from religion, it ensures the right to worship anywhere and everywhere.

Although, implicit in the Constitution is that it governs people who on occasion act like mature, responsible adults and not whiny spoiled children perpetually concerned with the size of their piece of cake in relation to their neighbor's.

Bill Gates, The Proud Racist

"Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they: Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American"

This begs the question of just why Mr. I am such a great guy Gates feels the need to provide scholarships for everybody EXCEPT FOR WHITE PEOPLE. Are these groups genetically inferior, and therefore operate with a permanent handicap? Does Bill Gates hate white people?

I seriously think that idiot liberals of the Boomer generation consider themselves superior to anybody with a tinge of "ethnic" and they come up with this kind of thing to show their contemporaries what wonderful, generous, fair minded people they are.

They are "helping (the permanently) less fortunate" without considering a) how bloody condescending and downright insulting this is and b) the fact that they are helping to bring race to the forefront of every aspect of society just when we were beginning to move on and not see skin color first and person at some later date, if at all.

Too bad really, because I think a society that is not hung up on skin color would have far more interesting things to talk about than just who is or is not a racist.

Isn't Bill Gates just swell? He cares about the inferior people too.

Mother's Day 2010

Today is the day to celebrate Mom, Mama, Madre, Mütter, Baba, Maman, and boy does she deserve it.

I have mixed feelings about Mother's day this year. I think about my two kids, both alive and healthy, (knock on wood) and I feel grateful and lucky and a little bit like any more celebration than that is unnecessary.

I have also been dreading Mother's Day since April 25Th, 2010, the day I found out the son of one of my best friends had been killed in a car crash. I can't pretend to understand what Mother's day is like for a mother who has lost a child, and I hope and pray I will never have to.

But this year, I wanted to make a special point of wishing those Mothers well on what I can only imagine must be a bittersweet day. You never stop being a mother once you have accepted the job, and the pain of losing a child must be a little sharper on mother's day, but please allow yourself some happiness and know that my heart goes out to you today, especially.

A special request from one mother to the rest: If it is at all possible to help carry the burden a mother bears after losing a child, let it be today.

We Know Who You Are

This scares me. I hope our world never comes to this, because it would be no fun at all. Let's not let things go this far, OK? It seems like all I and my husband do is pay taxes, and we are late on our property taxes, too. Right now the IRS is getting all of my money, then I will start on state taxes... but I am really going to get an ulcer because I am constantly worried about my taxes.

I don't need to be scared any more, folks.

Plus, I understand that the various governments are out of money, but the only real way to stimulate the economy in any meaningful, long lasting way, is to cut taxes. Raising taxes will only make things worse.

My personal opinion on the state of the economy is that we are headed for times that are going to be far worse than anything we have seen so far. My family is acting accordingly and we are preparing for the worst. I know they don't say this in the news, but if anything they taught me in all those economics courses was correct, we are going to experience inflation like you have never seen - and a corresponding crash in the dollar. Meaning your dollars will buy far less than they used to.

What happens after that is anybody's guess. I can't remember there ever being so much hostility amongst Americans as there is today. I really wonder what is going to happen when times start really getting tough.

P.S. Bush had as much to do with the current deficit as Obama does. We are not going to get anywhere unless we face facts and not just accuse the other side. The looming Social Security collapse should have been dealt with back in the 1990s - then we would have had more time to adjust. That is what Germany did. As it happens, every bit of surplus that has been collected via the Social Security system has been spent. There is no trust fund with actual money in it. It is full of IOUs. Our congress spent all the money - they thought they had at least until 2016 - but they don't. We are now paying out more in SS benefits than we are collecting in SS taxes.

That means that the balance will have to be borrowed or it will cut into all the other spending the federal government does.

This is my right-back-at you flippant comment:
"The Problem With Socialism Is That You Eventually Run Out Of Other People's Money"

This sort of thing isn't helping my anxiety level, either.

It Is Never Disrespectful To Show The American Flag

California Students Sent Home For Wearing U.S. Flags On Cinco De Mayo

I am so mad I am shaking. How dare they. All of my grandparents, my father, uncle and several cousins immigrated to America and I never saw them raise anything but the American flag. They would not have, in their wildest dreams, thought to insist on the Star Spangled Banner take a back seat to any symbol of their birth countries. This is flat out treason, and I want that principal fired.

Tolerance, my ass.

Wake up America, the enemy is among us.

There Goes The Neighborhood

Does this look like the pad of somebody who is concerned about global warming? Nothing like a little moderation! Or is that just for the rest of us? I'm just sayin'.
