Subsidies For Illegal Aliens At UC

On Monday (Nov. 15), the California Supreme Court unanimously upheld a state law which allows certain nonresidents, including some undocumented students, who attend and graduate from a California high school to pay in-state tuition at the state's public colleges and universities. ....

..."We are very pleased with the California Supreme Court's decision," said Charles Robinson, UC's general counsel and vice president for legal affairs. "The university supported AB 540 because we believe that students who attended and graduated from high school in California but are not legal residents should have an opportunity to get a higher education. We are gratified that the California Supreme Court has agreed that this state law does not conflict with federal law."
In-state tuition is subsidized by the California taxpayer - out of state tuition is set to reflect the actual cost of providing an education to a student. So, not only are these illegal aliens taking up a California resident's slot to study, the California taxpayer is paying for most of their education.

In other news: UC regents increase fees, financial aid - odd thing to do, isn't it? Increase the fees they charge AND give away more money? They do this to avoid having to tell California residents that higher earners are actually being charged MORE for their education than lower income families. So, don't run out and get that second job to pay for your children's college education, it may end up costing you in the end.

Remember, also, that higher earners are taxed at a higher rate than the same lower income families, so they are hit with a double whammy - they pay more in taxes and they pay more to send their kids to the UC. Over the next few years, there will be an explosion of illegal aliens reaching college age, (corresponding to the explosion in the number of illegal aliens residing in California + 16) and whether or not you can afford to send your own kids to a UC, you will be paying for foreign nationals (mostly Mexican) to go to school.

I can't remember voting to pay for Mexican citizens to go to school. I believe they have colleges and universities in Mexico, don't they?

No Good Hippie Boomer Draft Dodgers Still Sticking It To Vietnam Vets

The city of Los Angeles, as you may know, declared itself a sanctuary city for illegal aliens and allows them free reign of the city. According to one LA city council member, Los Angeles doles out roughly $1 billion per year to citizens of other countries who are unlawfully present in the USA (and their anchor babies). Meanwhile, there are roughly 20,000 homeless Vietnam Veterans "living" on the streets.

These men are the ones who, when called to duty by our country to fight the cancerous spread of communism throughout Asia, not only answered the call, they showed up for duty. The shirkers of duty like to portray themselves as the heroes, claiming the moral high ground and yapping about unjust this and that, but let's face it - they took the easy way out. There is nothing noble about the self-absorbed - and how much character do you need to attend protests with all of your hippie friends, take drugs and have sex with anything that moves. They also smelled really bad.

In 1888 or abouts, a big piece of prime real-estate in Los Angeles was donated to America's veterans. Since then, it appears that greedy freeloaders have been doing everything in their power to use the land for their own purposes, instead of respecting the actual purpose of the gift, which was to provide those men and now women who fought for our country, with a sanctuary - a place to heal the wounds that were inflicted upon them in our name. Regardless of what you may think of the Vietnam war and our reasons for fighting it, you should never forget that some men did their duty, and some ran off to Canada or played protester in the park until their buzz wore off. A few even set off bombs in the United States and spewed putrid, nonsensical sewage from their well-fed pie holes and called it ideology. (Those types were rewarded with prestigious positions at acclaimed universities by their contemporaries, the cowardly shirkers of duty. Strangely enough, these shirkers are also the same bunch who are currently speeding us to economic ruin with their increasingly frantic attempts to create something out of nothing and the very same ones who continue to stubbornly cling to the belief that functioning economies can be pulled out of their rear ends.)

But I digress.

For once in your self-absorbed, self-centered lives, hippie boomers, do the right thing. Give the veterans back their land in Los Angeles, and focus your squawking on raising money to provide them with a place of refuge. If you still haven't been able to face up to the reality that those vets are the heroes, not you, former smelly hippie acid freak, then think about your children - and how you have created a society for them in which to live, where those that give of themselves are relegated to the gutters while the grand duty shirkers navigate their shiny SUVs around the pot-holes on the crumbling streets.

Your parents handed you the keys to the kingdom and you trashed the place. Perhaps because you never seemed to be able to grasp that the kingdom didn't appear by magic, nor did your parents pull it out of their rear-ends. The kingdom was built with blood, sweat and plenty of tears. That is what made them, your parents, seem stuffy, straight-laced and a tad intolerant - hard work and sacrifice can have that effect on you.

You hippies are getting old now, you do not have much time left to make things right, so you had better get cracking.

Chop, Chop,

Sincerely,

Democrat Saves The Internet - My Tentative Opinion

Given what I have read so far, we just escaped an attempt by the Feds to censor the internet using copyright infringement as the excuse. A copyright violation would have allowed them to shut down the entire site (domain) of the offender. The man of the hour is Oregon Senator Ron Wyden.

WARNING USE CAUTION: I say tentative opinion because I have not researched this fully yet and don't have the time right now, so be wary and fact check before you agree with me.

Thoughts On Bullying At School

I was listening to the radio yesterday - John & Ken, my favorite talk show, and the topic was a boy from the Sacramento area who was driven to suicide by roughly 27 days of intense bullying. According to his mother, who has now founded an organization called "BRAVE", Michael, her son, had been a well adjusted kid up until the point of the bullying episode.

After unsuccessfully seeking help from the school, Michael apparently felt the only way out was to shoot himself in the school bathroom. He died the next day in the hospital. Tragic, beyond what words could express.

As a mother myself, I can't help but sympathize with Michael's mother; she has paid the ultimate price and regardless of any crusade for "change" she is now undertaking, I suspect she will spend the rest of her life wondering what she could have done differently to prevent this. In the off chance she ever came to read my blog, the last thing I would want is for my writing to add to her pain. I say this in advance because I don't know yet exactly what I am going to say; "bullying" is a complicated issue which, on the one hand is a part of life, on the other, a societal choice in the degree to which we tolerate it.

Of course, once I read about the method Michael used to kill himself, my first thought was, "where'd he get the gun?" I am very much for our 2nd amendment rights to own firearms, however, rights come with responsibilities, which could have been met with a very locked gun safe, if in this case, as I suspect, the gun came from home. So as you read this, if you have a gun in the house that is not locked away, stop reading this and go buy a gun safe and put your weapons in it.

Guns add an element of finality to the mix which somebody in extreme distress might not be able to fully grasp. I can think of a few moments in my own life where I thought "I'll kill myself and that will show everybody". I can't say that I was actually ever really suicidal, but who's to say that, in the absence of the gun, this boy might not have been able to kill himself? A less efficient way of suicide would require much more effort - allowing for additional intervention opportunities, reconsideration by the boy himself or an increased chance of survival should he have proceeded anyway. Teenagers are particularly emotional creatures and do not have the benefit of perspective that adults do. (My own tendency to over-dramatize and the fact that I can be a bit of a hot-head has thus far kept me from buying a gun - I don't trust myself to own one.)

Now on to the topic of bullying. I can remember a time in high school when I was a victim of what would today qualify as bullying. I think it lasted a month or two, and without going into the details -most of which I can't remember anyway, I do have to say that it was Hell. I remember the sick feeling in my stomach and the dread of each new incident. I wanted to curl up in a ball and hide under the blankets and never come out. I was afraid to walk out to the mailbox lest I encounter the girl who was tormenting me on her way home - she lived up the street from me.

It ended when I couldn't take it anymore and picked up the phone and called my former best friend and my tormentor's accomplice (or so I had thought) and asked her why she was saying all of these horrible things about me. My former best friend had had the same question for me. Once we realized that the other girl had been fabricating supposed 'she saids' and feeding them to both of us, we thought, "what the heck? what a total psycho!" and her power over the both of us evaporated. I simply avoided this chick in the future and let her know with teenage female facial expressions that she was a loser, I was on to her, and she should keep her distance if she knew what was good for her. That worked.

So my own experience with bullying had a "happy end" in that it was limited in time and scope, I was able to resolve it on my own thereby learning an important life lesson, I gained confidence in my own ability to navigate the treacherous, shark infested waters of high school society and I was ultimately able to chalk it up to "character building". However, the Hell I experienced at the time was real and it was a period of intense suffering - which my analytical brain might describe as "existing for an extended period of time in fight-or-flight mode". Extreme stress and absolutely no fun at all. On the other hand, if I had not experienced this during high school, I can guarantee you that I would be ranting about one or the other aspect of this case, instead of the extended hmmmmmmmmm, which I am now doing. I am able to empathize with the victim because of my experience.

That said, tormentors have a powerful tool available to them today which mine thankfully did not; the Internet. The Internet changes the scope and scale of the ability to inflict pain on others. In my case, technology came to my assistance in the form of a phone call - and the conflict was known to only three people, though at the time my imagination conjured hordes of conspirators. In Michael's case, the tormentor was able to focus and magnify his efforts on Michael like a magnifying glass focuses the rays of the sun - hot becomes searing and ultimately incinerates the object of focus.

That is obviously no longer character building.

But what to do? That is the tricky part. On the one hand, we need more laws like we need more holes in our already airy heads. On the other, since the adults commissioned with the responsibility to a) send halfway civilized children to school and b) provide for a safe and civil environment for the kids they are responsible for and c) consider the harmful effects one's fab new social networking site can have on kiddies and take steps to mitigate them, have all failed miserably, perhaps we as a society have earned some new nannying by the state. We get the government we deserve says a part of me.

The first step, however, is to have a discussion and to include the kids in this discussion because they are both the perpetrators and the victims. It has been my experience that many "kids" are able to rise to the occasion and lead, once they are made aware of the problem and are given the opportunity to participate in the search for solutions. They also have far more credibility amongst their peers as we boring adults do, thereby increasing the chances of suggested solutions becoming actual solutions.

So, it appears this is what I think on the matter.

TSA = Total State Abuse

I am dreading my flight to New York next month. This horrendous abuse of power in the name of safety has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with humiliating the general public into submission. They want you subdued and compliant.

I am listening to the radio right now, hearing story after story about people being sexually assaulted at the airport, women being reduced to tears after being violated in the most disgusting ways. A flight attendant and breast cancer survivor is forced to remove her prosthetic breast. One woman reports her TSA assailant stuck her hand down into her underwear and then patted her genitals with the other hand. Either we put a quick stop to this or you can expect the full body cavity exam to be next.

This is the beginning of your lesson in why our founding fathers worried about abuse of power and excessive power concentrated in one place (such as the federal government), and sought to build safeguards into the system - checks and balances. This is why the powers of the federal government are restricted to those specifically enumerated in the Constitution. Our founding fathers were no idiots. They knew about Barack Obama et al long before B.O. ever existed. Our Constitution is not outdated, and never will be. Not until greed and hunger for power is no longer part of the human condition.

Here is what I want in airport security: Forget The 'Porn Machines' How Israelis Secure Airports. Nobody has brought down an El Al plane from the inside. I want what the Israelis have. The government there cares about its citizens and is serious about safety. They are the best in the world. Since we are now exposing ourselves to be nothing more than a barrel of monkeys, let's play a little "Monkey See Monkey Do" while we're looking at Israeli security measures.

Subarticle 7. Low Carbon Fuel Standard - Why Your Energy Bills Will Skyrocket

Californians are the biggest airheads on the planet. I am quite certain that 90% of the voters who voted down Proposition 23, and thus gave control of their lives to the Executive Officer (pray that your lifestyle is to his liking) were of the opinion that they were voting for yet another feel-good law, that they most likely forgot about before they left their polling station.

I have linked to the 63 page document that quite possibly may cause this state to come to an absolute screeching halt. I have to admit that I don't understand a heck of a lot about what is being said, - but that in and of itself is a little worrisome. Starting on January 1, 2010 "regulated parties" are going to be very busy with reporting every last detail about every energy source that they use. (2011 is when the real trouble starts) Starting in 2015, they will be reporting to the government how much energy we Californians use, and what we use it for.

For a state that loves to bash "big oil, big this, big that", the reporting requirements of this monster will pretty much guarantee that "big anything" is the only type of company with the resources to comply. That these new regulations will cause the prices of ALL FORMS OF ENERGY to skyrocket is a given.

Still think this law is going to be all butterflies? Energy is the one input that is common to the production of absolutely everything, all goods, all services. Even a travel agent needs to turn on the lights and computers to get the job done. If you have a job now, you won't for long.

Also, the Executive Officer is now easily the most powerful person in the state. Know his name? Of course you don't. Don't worry about it, because you have no say in the matter anyway.

Just know that a few well-connected people are going to make a ton of money off of your stupidity.

Stupid California. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

RH

P.S. I linked to the document. Open it and read it yourself. Don't waste your time with comments about butterflies and green jobs. That is crap used to sell this albatross to the Dodos that live here. Yes, I mean you, Dodo.

PPS - The Chicago Cap'nTrade Exchange just shut down a few days ago. The one which would have made Al Gore and Goldman Sachs even richer. Seems the rest of the country didn't take the bait. I wonder whether that had anything to do with Al Baby moving to California? Something like: "There're Dodos in them thar hills" Yup...one born every day!

Even the famous Silicon Valley isn't a sure thing for California. The Sacramento Bee reported that a host of Silicon Valley companies are investing in new jobs and expansion plans in Utah. Adobe Systems in San Jose announced Aug. 5 it will build a $100 million facility in Utah that will add 1,000 new employees. Twitter, the social-networking phenomenon based in San Francisco, is moving its data center to Salt Lake City. Video game maker Electronic Arts Inc., based in Redwood City, is also opening a new plant in Salt Lake. And Oracle, the California software giant, will invest $285 million in Utah in a new data center that will house more than 100 new jobs. Source

I Pledge Allegiance To The Flag

Can somebody please explain to me why this happens? How can somebody who works in a school be such a half-wit as to tell a 13 year old boy to remove his American Flag off the back of his bike? Is this the product of stupidity or malice? That this comes from a public school is particularly troubling. This country must do a complete overhaul of our public education system and purge those who would destroy this country.

First order of the day, get rid of the unions. They siphon off all the money for themselves and then fill our children's heads with leftist nonsense. I am starting to think a public school education does more harm than good. Did somebody say "voucher system"?

SOOOOOO SEXY!

RULEMAKING TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF A PROPOSED CALIFORNIA CAP ON GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS AND MARKET-BASED COMPLIANCE MECHANISMS REGULATION, INCLUDING COMPLIANCE OFFSET PROTOCOLS

I am tempted to make up a little ditty about Cap'n Trade - Just Like Winnie The Pooh Would... and I think I understand why Cicero fiddled while Rome burned...He just couldn't stand watching his fellow Rom-maniacs pour gasoline on themselves and light the match...

The AB 32 Scoping Plan identifies a cap-and-trade program as one of the strategies California will employ to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that cause climate change. Unelected California Air Resources Board

Inhofe Debunks So-Called 'Consensus' On Global Warming

The assumption at the AIR Resources Board is that the 2020 $ price of Fuel will be $7.69 per MMBTU

In comparison to today's spot price

Spot Price of Fuel in 2010 - $3.76
Or more than Twice the amount.....

Smarter Green Thoughts - California DoDos Not Extinct - Not By A Long Shot

The sky is not burning, and to claim that it is amounts to journalistic malpractice…the press only promotes the global warming alarmists and ignores or minimizes those of us who are skeptical.” - Chemist Dr. Mark L. Campbell, a professor of chemistry at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, who has published numerous studies in the Journal of the American Chemical Society on topics such as methane.

Memo To Californians: When you have lost your job due to AB-32, I hope you will hold those accountable who have been purposely lying to you about the necessity of this ridiculous farce; An air pollution law that doesn't even attempt to reduce real air pollution. That would have been something at least.

Starting with the newspapers you read, because they have been purposely withholding mounting evidence that this is indeed a hoax/plot of progressives to gain control over the US Economy. Only Californians were stupid enough to fall for it.

Awww... you shouldn't have! Our very own Cap'N Trade Program: Proposed California Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Program Now Available

Major program elements:
Scope

  • Starting in 2012: electricity, including imports, and large industrial facilities (I already saw some of the benefits of this - in the form of much, much higher rates in Truckee, California - Our Electric Company had an out-of-state provider all lined up - nice low cost energy - but couldn't sign a contract due to Cap'nTrade - Oh Yeah...) Result: Higher Electricity Costs For You, and You, and YOU TOO! If you voted "NO" on Prop 23, IT IS YOUR FAULT.
  • Starting in 2015: distributors of transportation fuels, natural gas and other fuels - SHOO BE DOOO HIGHER GAS PRICES FOR YOOOOOOOOOUUUUU!
  • Program covers 360 businesses, representing 600 facilities UH-OH SPAGHETTIOS - I WONDER WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TO THEM...

The Cap

  • Initial cap in 2012 set at emissions forecast for that year.
  • When scope expands in 2015, cap increases to include emissions from combustion of fuels
  • Cap declines approximately 2 percent per year in initial period (2012-14); cap declines after 2015 approximately 3 percent per year
  • Cumulative reductions needed 2012 - 2020 are 273 million metric tons of CO2 (MMTCO2e)
  • 2020 cap about 15% below 2012 levels (I BET WE BEAT THAT 15% BY A MILE....BECAUSE NUTTIN GONNA BE HAPPENIN' IN KALIFORNIA - WE ALL BE CRYYYYIN - MAYBE WE SOLVE THE WATER PROBLEM THAT WAY...BONUS!)

George Soros Is Doctor Evil - Or As Close As It Comes...

So many things in the last couple of years have not made sense on the surface - when simply taken on their own merits; the Democrats fanatic insistence on open borders, the volume of small "communities" pushing their own agenda and the willingness of politicians to listen and take them seriously, despite the destructive effects of what they were asking on society as a whole. It seemed to me that people like Nancy Pelosi, that lard-ass in Massachusetts who caused the financial mess, Very Hairy Reid of Nevada, John McCain of Able Arizona were part of some larger agenda to destroy the United States.

But I have a hard time believing in conspiracies of any size for the simple fact that there are always people who will spill the beans; let the cat out of the bag; open their yaps and talk. Unless of course there is a single, powerful dictator running the show, one which is powerful enough to do damage to anyone who crosses him, then it is a different story. But I wasn't aware of such a person. Sure I have heard the name George Soros - mostly in context with financial dealings of one sort or another, and although I was aware of his enormous wealth, that fact alone a Dr. Evil does not make.

The thing about Soros that really caught my attention were quotes attributed to the man himself. Quotes were he is said to have discussed his godlike nature, destiny and calling to make the world a better place. Look out.

“I fancied myself as some kind of god …” he once wrote. “If truth be known, I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control, otherwise they might get me in trouble.” When asked by Britain’s Independent newspaper to elaborate on that passage, Soros said, “It is a sort of disease when you consider yourself some kind of god, the creator of everything, but I feel comfortable about it now since I began to live it out.” From Gulag Bound
George Soros is probably very intelligent, certainly very rich and I am certain that there are many topics of discussion on which I would agree with him completely. However, and particularly frightening is the fact that he is an egomaniac with a God complex. So, whether or not he is right on a given issue to me is irrelevant; the danger that this man poses far overshadows any amount of good he might accomplish. And while he may consider himself to be God, he is not.

What other notable figures in history have had this disease? (The official name for it is Hubris, I believe) I think Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Edi Amin - all good and likely candidates for this diagnosis. That is the potential of an egomaniac - doesn't matter whether they spout off to the right or the left - if they are not kept in check that is where they can wind up.

"Oh, but Mr. Soros is doing such wonderful things!", I can hear the lefties singing his praises already. Well Mr. Hitler did some good things, too - I reply. He built a lovely set of roads through Germany and gave us the ever popular "Volkswagen".  He was said to have been a vegetarian (in contrast to Mr. Amin who was more of a "Humanitarian" har, har, yuck yuck)  plus Hitler was very kind to animals, too. Gosh, what a swell guy was Adolf, eh?

It isn't the areas of agreement that are important, or that the egomaniac intends to do good, or even actually does do a great amount of good. It is the unchecked, unpredictable capacity to do evil that is the problem. Our romance with Mr. Soros can produce a marriage made in heaven, until we disagree with him. Then we will discover hell.

While we're on the topic of hell, and what the road there is paved with, do you really think that Adolf Hitler, Joey Stalin, or the other guy saw themselves as the bad guys? I mean, a real Dr. Evil in the sense of doing evil for evil's sake only, doesn't exist to my knowledge. They all see themselves as benevolent dictators of one sort or the other.

Finally, I don't care what his excuse is for trying to play God  - it ain't what we signed up for in this country. Let him go mess with China if he needs something to keep himself busy. My guess is the Chinese will be having none of that, but nevertheless, he should give it a try.

Our task in this country is to root out and identify the Soros whores, not so that we can harm them in any way, rather so that we know who they are and whose dirty work they are doing. I have faith enough in the American people to not allow themselves to be played for fools for too long.

Dear Texas

Dear Texas,

I am a recovering liberal and life long California resident. As part of my recovery, and to make amends for the damage I have caused myself, my family and my fellow citizens, I am writing this letter to warn you of a growing threat to your well-being. It has come to my attention that a fair number of Californians are packing their bags and moving to Texas.

You must regard each and every Californian as a miniature Trojan horse. Despite their innocuous appearance and apparent inability to say anything offensive to anyone, ever, they will act in ways which, if not nipped in the bud, will cause Texas to become the next California.

There is nothing wrong with the actual state of California, the rocks, trees, dirt and water are not at fault for our sorry state of affairs. In fact, they have been so kind as to arrange themselves in a fashion that is quite appealing and desirable in a place to call home. It is most decidedly the human element that is the root of our troubles.

I suggest you quarantine all Californians until you can be sure they have been cured of the particularly deadly strain of Californian Liberalism. Under no circumstances should they be allowed to move to Austin, as they will feel right at home there, and will find positive reinforcement for the most dastardly symptoms of their disease. Consider this statement by a Californian:

"I can't stand Texas, except for Austin...Austin is cool."

I myself made this statement while living in Silicon Valley in the early 00s. My statement was met with nods of agreement, the obligatory eye-rolling whenever anybody utters the word "Texas" and the follow up "Yeah, I know what you mean".

You might want to build a fence around Austin now that I think about it.

Californians care only about appearances, not what really is. You can get them to agree to anything as long as you make it sound like a nice idea. If you tell them it will enhance the value of their real-estate, the nice, agreeable Californian will morph into a frothing-at-the-mouth, single minded warrior for the cause, and will not rest until every last corner of the state has seen their light and has "reformed".

Because we have the attention spans of gnats, and are inherently uninterested in details or reality, your new residents will never recognize their own follies or accept responsibility for their actions. In fact, they will continue to act in the same, irresponsible fashion becoming increasingly shrill and indignant when faced with the inevitable outcome.

Guard your horses, especially the high ones. It might occur to a Californian or two that the source of their woes lies in their lack of sitting on an actual high-horse, instead of the figurative ones we are accustomed to. If you start noticing the disappearance of especially tall horses, you should immediately suspect the Californians.

Never forget Californians consider Texas a "fly-over" if not even one of the "square states" (geography is not one of our strong points). When they arrive, they will seem nice enough, but will soon get busy "making Texas more like California". Don't believe me? Ask Nevada, the one state in our sorry union that is in worse condition than California but just voted to send the same lying, two-faced loser, Harry Reid back to Washington. Nevada is full of Californians.

Here is what I suggest: Make an investment in the future of Texas and raise enough money to bribe Nevada into temporarily changing their name to Texas. (Harry Reid will be your point-man on this project). Once Harry has told the media that Nevada is really Texas, they will begin to spread the word, and with the sheer number of former Californians living in Nevada, anybody with the audacity to suggest that Nevada is not Texas will be immediately branded a radical extremist.

Finally, ask Arizona to alter their road signs to direct fleeing Californians to the new "Texas" - I am sure they will be sympathetic and do you this favor.

Don't worry about Las Vegas giving it away, we know from the movies that there is a "Paris, Texas" so Las Vegas, Texas is really not that much of a stretch.

I wish you the best of luck, it is not going to be easy.

Sincerely,

RH

Retro Housewife Salutes All Veterans, Except For Latinos ... Since LULAC Already Did That

LULAC Salutes Latino Veterans

Washington, DC – Today, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the oldest and largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the country, salutes Latino veterans.
To express gratitude to our veterans, LULAC collaborated with the American GI Forum and federal agencies to hold the 4th Annual LULAC Veterans Summit in Los Angeles last December. Keynote speakers included John U. Sepulveda, Assistant Secretary, Office of Human Resources and Administration and Steve L. Muro, Acting Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
“I am personally touched by all the veterans I have interacted with and their stories of honor and bravery,” said Margaret Moran, LULAC’s National President. “I am also moved by the personal sacrifice of military families and humbled by the patriotism of those they support, our soldiers, airmen, sailors, and Marines. I want to encourage all of you to reach out and support our troops. Let them know you appreciate all that they do.”
House Resolution 1651 includes the fact that 149,411 Latinos are currently serving as active duty members in the United States Armed Services. According to the most recently available figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, over 1.1 million Latinos are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. There are 23 million surviving veterans in the United States.
Veterans Day is a time to thank and honor our veterans for their service.  LULAC would like to honor the servicemen and women who have risked and sacrificed so much for our country.  Although Veterans Day comes around once a year, we are conscious of our veterans year-round and truly grateful to them for their service.
The League of United Latin American Citizens, the largest and oldest Hispanic membership organization in the country, advances the economic conditions, educational attainment, political influence, health, housing and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 880 LULAC councils nationwide.
I paraphrased the LULAC Press release so that my lovely readers don't strain their eyes with the small print I intentionally formated the letter in.

Blah Blah Latino, Blah Blah Hispanic...LULAC wants to ensure that Hispanics and Latinos never really think of themselves as Americans, so when the time comes to reconquer all the territory that Spain took but then lost (dodos) we will have our army already in place. Then the Grand Raza (We're not like the NAZIs, though...we don't like blond people AT ALL - we even have a funny name for them...Gringos HAHA - see so just because we are all about the RAZA, we absolutely hate blonds so don't call us NAZIs )

Anyway dear RAZA, with the help of our well-placed Loyalist Politicians, we have wrangled out yet another something that is just for US LATINOS AND HISPANICS. HAHA The Stupid GRINGOs get to pay for it HAHA. We can't wait until we get rid of all those Gringos and BLACKOs so that we can run the place and it will be just as dysfunctional and corrupt as the rest of Latin America(1). HOME SWEET HOME.

Dollar To Crash and Burn?

I doubt Dr. Mundell will find the time to answer me, but I thought I would post my email anyway in case anyone was wondering what keeps me up at night. I approached Dr. Mundell on this topic because he is the foremost expert on all things currency related, and if NIA is correct in their assessment, and I have no reason to believe that they are not, this should be keeping you up at night, too. NIA's statements are correct as far as theory/mechanics go, however, I have not had the time, (nor am I sure I would know how) to look at the scale of the amounts involved. (By scale, I mean the $$s of QE in relation to the total money supply, how much of our deficit is being financed by actual debt vs. inter-agency swapping/official counterfeiting/money printing  ... plus a ton of other stuff)

Greetings Dr. Mundell,

A newsletter I subscribe to quotes you as having said something to the effect of "we are teetering on the edge of an unprecedented global financial debt crisis" (in October, to the WSJ), yet when I Google that phrase, it returns no results. Could you tell me whether this statement or similar reflect your views? I was able to verify the other quote attributed to you in my newsletter "We've never been in this unstable position the the entire currency history of 3,000 years" however, I want to understand the context of the two statements in relation to each other.

Also, are you concerned about the recent announcement and actions of the Fed with regards to QE2, and eventual price inflation in the US as well as further devaluation of the dollar. Do you see a dollar collapse as imminent or even likely?

Finally, if the US continues to play loose-y goose-y with the monetary supply, given that China holds a large amount of US debt, might that not severely annoy the Chinese to the extent that they are no longer willing to finance the US government's deficit spending, resulting in a bit of a cash crunch in Washington? Might that not force them (US Gov.) into money printing and the US into a scenario of hyper-inflation?

My daughter is a student at Columbia and I am going to insist that she take a course or several from you, (assuming you are teaching at the moment), but there is so much talk and chatter on the internet with regards to impending economic doom here in the US that I worry I might not have the luxury of waiting until the next semester begin to have my questions answered.

Sincerely, Moi, aka Retro Housewife

Public Service Post: This Is What's Going On In Ca. An Eye Opener In Orange County!

I just received this photo journal account from Ted Hayes, and I thought this is worth publishing, since the MSM certainly will not.

*** Begin ***
The Santa Ana , CA , Mexican Consulate setup a mobile Mexican Matricula Consular ID center on UNITED STATES PUBLIC SCHOOL PROPERTY- Capistrano School District at the Adult English Language Development Center located at 31351 Camino Real, San Juan Capistrano , CA .

The fee is $27 per matricula consular application.

When the Minutemen arrived at the Capistrano School District Adult School there was a hub of activity. A mobile Mexican Consulate center was in full swing.

Legal resident Mexicans have U.S. issued green cards, for identification.

Mexican Consulate Mobile Matricula Consular Center
Mexican Nationals in the U.S. ILLEGALLY do NOT have a green card and therefore need a Mexican matricula consular identification card - matricula means: of a like group and consular means: from a consulate.

One Minuteman

After the Minutemen had been onsite for about an hour and a half, the mobile center was shut down - above photo. Once Minutemen began to observe and report, documenting and photographing. The Mexican Nationals no longer ventured forth to the center and many, who had been in attendance, left the mobile center.

MEXICAN DIPLOMAT TELLS MINUTEMEN - LEAVE!
The Mexican diplomat, above, would not give us her business card nor her name
The Mexican diplomat, above, approached the Minutemen as the Minutemen were peacefully strolling about- on United States public school property - observing and taking photos of the event.
Minutewoman - peacefully assembling on public school property
The Mexican diplomat repeatedly said, "This a private event for Mexicans only…You cannot be here…I am telling you nicely as I do not want to call the police. Please leave."
Minutemen assembled on U.S. school property
Minuteman Project National Rally Spokesman Raymond Herrera said to the Mexican diplomat, "No, we will not leave. We are guaranteed freedom of assembly under OUR Constitution."

I said to the diplomat, "The U.S. should adopt Mexico 's immigration policy."  "Oh," she agreed. " Mexico has a very good immigration policy."

The Mexican diplomat was particularly vexed by our photographing of the event. " DO NOT TAKE PHOTOS," she commanded repeatedly."

Minutemen stated that in the USA , we have the right to photograph in public.
"No, you cannot take photos," she insisted. Herrera and the diplomat then entered into a lengthy discussion in Spanish.
GANG MEMBER with application in hand
The man, above photo, displayed gang hand signals and yelled out "THIS IS OUR TERRITORY!" The Mexican diplomat witnessed and seemingly approved of the gang member at the "Mexican Only" event.

He appeared to be filling out an application - in his left hand above. Many have informally been told that in the Hispanic community only gang members wear black shoes. Note in the photo above, the only man in black shoes is the self-professed gang member.

DIPLOMAT ASSAULTS!

The Minutewoman, above, had been quietly photographing...

Photo by Deb - Mexican Diplomat has a matricula consular card in her hand
Suddenly the door above opened, and the Mexican diplomat, came out yelling. The photo above is just before she lashed out.
To our utter amazement, the diplomat started to strike out at the Minutewoman! We were in a state of shock. As she yelled, she struck across the Minutewoman's lower right jaw and lip, several times. The Minutewoman above, in her left hand, used her sign as a shield, while pulling her camera back from the assaulting Mexican diplomat. Ten minutes after the assault the Minutewoman still had a "stinging" sensation on her lip and jaw area.

POLICE ARRIVE

Police arrived after the assault. The police said they had been called by the consulate as they had reported that the Minutemen were inside the building yelling and pushing about. We never entered the building and had been quietly moving outside, on school property.

Herrera spoke with officers then requested they interview the diplomat. Per the officer's request, the diplomat came forward.
"They must leave," she said to the officer. But the officer replied, "No, this is a public school and they can be here."

The diplomat then said that we must stop photographing them. "Ma'am," the officer informed her, "You are in a public area and they can photograph."

The officer then asked her, "Do you have the paperwork to use this facility." "Yes," she replied. "I would like to see it," the officer said,

"I don't have the paperwork with me," she said back to him.
"No, you can't," she said to the officer. The officer at this point followed her inside of the building. "I have no identification with me. I did not drive,"she finally said as the officer pursued the issue. At this point, the door shut and the officer remained inside of the building.

 OFFICER ON THE PHONE
After the officer spoke with the diplomat, he returned to his vehicle and spoke on his cell phone for about 15 to 20 minutes.

After he hung up, he met with us. He said the consulate did not have paperwork but that he had spoken to the individual who had granted the use of the school. He said that we could continue to assemble on the school property.

He appeared sympathetic about the Minutewoman assault, but said the Mexican Consulate staff had diplomatic immunity.

Please forward! Americans must know what is happening behind our backs, in our own country!!

What is a Matricula Consular card? Matricula Consular cards are identification cards issued by the Mexican government to mainly illegal immigrants living in the United States . Currently, more than 350 financial institutions accept Matricula Consular cards as proof of identification thereby allowing thousands of illegal immigrants to have access to mainstream U.S. financial services.

This Year I'm Christmas Shopping - NOT Holiday Shopping

As the "Holidays" approach, I can't help but noticing one particular "Holiday" that is disappearing from the public consciousness. I have been tip-toeing around the topic now for the last 3 or 4 years, but I think I am done with that now. I am putting on size 12 stomping boots because I want Christmas back.

Take your "Holiday" and shove it.

Christmas has turned into just "Spendfest". - Now that Christmas has been removed from the equation, having been diluted down to just another generic "Holiday", I am not even sure spending money on presents is appropriate. July 4th is a holiday, and we don't buy anybody presents then, do we? We buy firecrackers.

How am I supposed to know what I should do for the generic December Holiday? Generic December Holiday means nothing to me. Maybe the proper tradition for Generic December Holiday is to split town. Head somewhere tropical.

In fact, that actually makes more sense than to run around like a crazy person in the rain and snow spending money at stores which consider the real name of Generic December Holiday, or Christmas, to have the same status as select four-letter-words; you can say them when you are among friends, but same utterances in a public setting is considered improper.

So, this year I am going seek out and spend my money only at those stores which have Christmas. Holiday blah blah, will not find any place under my Christmas tree this year, or any other year for that matter. I will also avoid any sort of pathetic, pandering PC pollution. Now there's an area that could use a extremely restrictive cap-and-trade program.

Merry Christmas, The birthday of Jesus Christ

Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga Owes The VUSD $17,104.51

Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga Owes The VUSD $17,104.51 for taxpayer money spent on her campaign to increase parcel taxes on the residents of Ventura. She made a big point of claiming that no district funds were being used to promote Measure H - the latest Teacher's Union Shakedown attempt, which failed.

Dr. Tuttle needs to write a check and return this money.

November 3rd, 2010 - The Morning After

  1. Located http://www.venturausd.org/ContactyourRepresentatives.htm page with email addresses of my representatives.
  2. Emailed all of the members of the Board of Supervisors asking for the removal of Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga.
  3. Got highly annoyed when emails turned out to be decoy addresses: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: Steve.Bennett@mail.co.ventura.ca.us Technical details of permanent failure: DNS Error: Domain name not found
  4. Picked up phone and called Supervisor Steve Bennet's Office -gave my speech about Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga and her fuzzy understanding of what taxpayer monies should be spent on.
  5. Then called Linda Parks' office - nice lady listened patiently, took me seriously, and explained a bit about the bureaucracy structure.
  6. Called Steve Bennet's Office back - (proper school district) - was directed to call School Board 805 383-1900
  7. Called number, learned about Uniform Complaint Procedure but still not in right place for talking to person in charge of Superintendent Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga. Learn that Debbie Golden 805-320-4633 - President of School Board is responsible for DTTA.
  8. Call Debbie Golden, give my speech, learn that she is about to get on the 405 freeway, we agree to talk later because very dangerous driving on 405 freeway and talking on phone. She did have the chance to tell me that the $17,000 of VUSD money was paid to purchase "Informational" materials relating to Measure H but since I am not a complete blathering idiot, I had to call BS.
  9. Just occurred to me that there is a great business opportunity in Ventura - we have no printing companies here! I mean, why else would Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga use a printing service located in San Diego, California? I just phoned up Tony Turpin Associates at 619-521-1200 - got voicemail. Left message. I wonder how Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga found Tony Turpin Associates, since this company doesn't even have a viable website yet.
  10. Below is a picture of Tony Turpin Associates, the printing business where Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga spent $17,104.51 of taxpayer money to inform me about why I should cough up $95 per year for her to spend. How did Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga find such an obscure printing company? There is no sign on the door of this printing company... I shall ask Dr. Trudy Tuttle Arriaga.

  11. As luck would have it, Tony Turpin called me back just as I was about to press send. He was very nice and helpful, and it seems there is no smoking gun with the printer. So I zoom out with my google picture, because I decide it is maybe not so nice to post picture of person's house. I wouldn't like it, so slap my self on hand, and try to remember what he said about consultant Delfgod and company???? and "Campaign oversight commitee" Mr. Turpin says somebody will call me to discuss. Will wait for that call to see what happens.

California Gives Blank Check To State Government + Thinks It's Green

So you think California's problems are going to be solved by giving a blank check and unlimited power to the state government and an unelected group of people calling themselves the Air Resources Board? How does that work? Does anybody out there understand that it is impossible for everybody to work for the government?

Here is what this election means for me: Get my little, home based business out of California before they have a chance to destroy it like they have tried to do now twice in the last 2 years. The only thing that saved my business is Schwarzenegger's veto.

I know, who cares, right? I employ only me and don't make tons of money, but it enabled me to pay college tuition for my daughter, helped pay our property taxes and I send a check each year to the State Of Kalifornia in the form of income taxes. The state legislature thinks they can catch bigger fish, like Amazon, in their tax net, so to Hell with all the little guppies.

I will be looking into the issue of whether I can legally domicile my business in another state and live in California, or would I have to move.

Here's the funny part: if we decide to pack up and leave, we will sell our houses. The new owners will pay property taxes on the new market values which are easily 30% less than what we are paying now. Hardy, Har, Har. We will lose our shirts, of course, but can we survive on one income? Dunno.

I can find another job, as members of my own family have told me, as they proceeded to vote for Moonbeam. Yes, another job - a green job. The problem with this is that those green jobs exist only in the LSD addled minds of the bunch of hippie acid freaks who are running this state and are currently mistaking a flashback for a good public policy idea. Real jobs don't come in different colors.

God I hate Hippie Acid Freak Politicians.

My Great Idea For Scholastic Justice - The Grade Tax

Here's my idea: It isn't really fair for some kids to get all the good grades while others scrape by with Cs, Ds, and Fs. I believe a grade tax is just the thing we need. Imagine all the warm fuzzies those selfish straight A students will get when a full letter grade is knocked off their scores and given to the have-nots!

The kids can hold an election, and who knows, maybe they decide to throw all the grades into one big pot and then divide them up absolutely equally amongst all the students. The school will benefit because every student will surely try their very hardest to contribute their absolute best work efforts to the communal pot of love, equality and scholastic justice.

By God I'm Brilliant. I can't wait to phone up the school principal tomorrow to tell her about my fricken awesome idea.

Sorry if you find my brilliance blinding, I can't help it, I was born this smart...

RH

PS, I have decided to start a new diet which I just this very second invented, consisting of Snickers and Sugar Free Red Bull. Yum. Heck, what does it matter now that I officially live in a Communal Suicide State? Might as well enjoy the ride over the cliff... for awhile anyway.

California, You Dumb Cluck

TWO tax increases and a senile lunatic for Governor. Would those who voted for this catastrophe please step forward? I am sure you will have no problem in donating your job to the 2.2 people who will lose their job for every so-called green job you create (at an expense of $800,000 per job).

Based on Spain’s experience, the United States can expect to lose 2.2 jobs for every “green” job created, and each of those “green” jobs will cost about $803,000 in government subsidies.
Total Unemployed 2,269,948 X $800,000 = $1,815,958,400,000 Total Government Subsidy required to provide each unemployed Californian with a green job.

Barbara Boxer Sucks

I am in a real pisser of a mood. It hasn't been a good day and I feel like taking it out on someone. Then I see this pathetic ad for Barbara Boxer and I turned into a big, evil grin. All of me. Like the Cheshire Cat.

I suggest that you skip this one.

  1. Boxer harping on Fiorina's outsourcing of jobs. When Carly Fiorina was CEO of HP she was obligated to act in the best interest of the HP shareholders. Many companies outsource part or all of their operations in an attempt to cut costs and remain competitive, not an easy feat in the low margin computer industry. One can argue that by outsourcing a portion of HP's production, she saved many jobs because HP is still in business and seems to be doing pretty well. But that is not the point because it wasn't Carly Fiorina's job to keep jobs in the US. It was to make a profit. It may seem like a strange concept to take one's obligations seriously and honor them by taking steps towards fulfilling said obligations, but there is really no dishonor in that. It can further be argued her ability and willingness to make decisions for the good of the company is a sign of character, showing that she can be trusted to stay on task regardless of whether it hurts her chances at taking the Miss Congeniality crown in the next popularity contest.

In contrast, we have Ms. Boxer, who is elected to be a representative of the citizens of California to the Federal government, yet spends most of her energies granting benefits and special favors to a large population of people who are not even supposed to be in this country. Carly Fiorina may have outsourced jobs, but Barbara Boxer in-sources cheap labor to fill those positions which cannot be outsourced.

The important distinction here is that Barbara Boxer has taken an oath to uphold the laws of this country and it is absolutely, 100% her job to protect jobs for American citizens, and put the interests of American citizens above other interests, and that she as a matter of course fails to do this is arguably grounds for a charge of treason, rather than something to criticize others about.
  2. Boxer Saying Fiorina Will Cut Social Security Payments - Yet another positive for Carly Fiorina. Social Security is already technically insolvent and if there is a snowball's chance in Hell of saving it, cuts will have to be made - even if contributions are increased.  Either Boxer is lying by implying that she would not make cuts to Social Security, or she is so mind numbingly stupid I can't imagine how she makes it out her front door in the morning.
So now I am bored, and I have to be honest, I absolutely detest Barbara Boxer. Mostly because I have always voted for her and just assumed she was taking her responsibilities as my representative seriously instead of pursuing her own grandiose idea of what the world should look like. Instead she is apparently trying to do away with the United States so she can become queen of the world. I do not appreciate that at all - and as far as I can tell, pursuing a globalist agenda isn't in her job description, and applauding a foreign head of state at the expense of besieged American citizens is truly grounds for a charge of treason.

In short, Barbara Boxer sucks.
