|After 43 Years of totalitarianism, East Germans had had enough of the lies and hypocrisy - but it took 43 years.|
20 year old locksmith Chris Gueffroy was the last person to be murdered at the Berlin wall on February 5th, 1989 trying to escape the fabulous worker's paradise. As it turned out, all of that social justice just meant everybody was equal, but some were much more equal than others.
It doesn't matter whether it is Communism, Socialism or the latest twist, Communitarism with a twist of smart growth and a splash of sustainability that is used as the excuse for the police state - once it is in place, it is very difficult to get rid of.
They train the population to spy on one another (See something, say something) and instill fear in the public of the mid-night knock on the door (NDAA). Nobody knows who they can trust, and spies are everywhere. Even children are taught to spy on their parents - in the schools. They were real big on early childcare in East Germany. The State that rocks the cradle rules the people - any which way they want - and there isn't a darn thing you can do about it. No "out-dated" Constitution to protect you.
Don't you wish you had spoken up before you became a prisoner of the State? Or do you have nothing to do for the next 43 years?

Liking the wrong music could get you on the government's hit list.
See the Stasi follow around a bunch of teenagers. Yeah, all those people who were unpopular in high school and live the rest of their lives trying to get even with the cool kids wind up in the government controlling everything you do, and making your life a living Hell. Who else would want to grow up to be professional NARKs?
